Writing Task 2: Band 7 Structure
Most Band 6 writers have ideas, but weak structure. This simple template helps you write clearly under time pressure.
Band 7 template (4 paragraphs)
- Introduction: paraphrase + clear thesis
- Body 1: main idea + explanation + example
- Body 2: second idea + explanation + example
- Conclusion: summarise + restate opinion
Time plan (40 minutes)
- 5 minutes plan
- 30 minutes write
- 5 minutes check
Common mistakes to avoid
- Writing without a plan
- Too long introduction
- Weak examples (make them specific)
- Grammar errors in complex sentences
